Round 2
of the Alfa Romeo Championship: Silverstone
Birthday weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to support the Alfa Romeo Championship. It was at Silverstone, one of the most iconic racing circuits in the world. From the moment we arrived, the energy and excitement in the air were palpable.
The weekend was a perfect blend of thrilling races. Drivers showcased their exceptional skills and determination. Passionate fans filled the stands, cheering for their favourite teams. Here’s a detailed reflection on my action-packed weekend and for the official review from Andy Robinson visit Alfa Racer.

Arrival and Paddock Walk
Our journey to Silverstone began on Friday afternoon. The anticipation was palpable as we made our way to the circuit, eager to immerse ourselves in the motorsport atmosphere. Upon arrival, we headed straight for the paddock to see which Alfa Romeos were testing. The paddock was a hive of activity, with mechanics and engineers fine-tuning their cars and drivers discussing strategies. It was a fantastic opportunity to get up close to the cars. We could witness the meticulous preparations that go into racing.

Check-In and Rooftop Views
After soaking in the paddock vibes, we checked into our hotel. The hotel was conveniently located and offered a comfortable retreat from the hustle and bustle of the circuit. One of the highlights was the rooftop bar, which provided stunning panoramic views. From this vantage point, we watched FP2 in Imola. We enjoyed the thrilling action on screen. We also took in the serene surroundings. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of travel and excitement.

That evening, we ventured out for dinner at a local restaurant known for its fantastic Indian cuisine. The atmosphere was lively, and the food did not disappoint. It is also a favourite with F1 Drivers and Commentators. Sharing a meal with fellow motorsport enthusiasts made the evening even more special. We discussed our favourite races and drivers over delicious food and drinks. The evening ended with the owner encouraging a neighbouring table to serenade me in a rendition of Happy Birthday! If you are ever in the area, please do visit Khushboo Brackley, do not go by the reviews. The owner is a character and IMHO a very dry sense of humour and the food is tantalising and plentiful!

Saturday: Exploring Bicester and Paddock Preparations
On Saturday, we decided to explore the local area and enjoyed a gentle wander around Bicester Village. This charming town offered a relaxed pace and plenty of quaint shops and cafes to explore. It was a nice contrast to the high-octane action at Silverstone. We appreciated the chance to recharge before another exciting day at the track.

As the evening approached, we returned to the paddock. We went to meet up with Revs Italia. They are the team preparing the Alfa Romeo for this season. It was fascinating to see the behind-the-scenes work that goes into ensuring the cars are race-ready. The dedication and passion of the team were evident as they meticulously checked every detail of the car.
Walking the Silverstone National Circuit
One of the highlights of the weekend was walking the Silverstone National Circuit. After all the cars and support vehicles had left the track, there was an opportunity to enjoy an evening stroll. Alternatively, you could cycle around the circuit. Walking the track gave us a new perspective on the racing line and the challenges the drivers face. We attempted to create a “Track Talk” video during our walk, but unfortunately, the first seven minutes turned out blurry. Despite this, we managed to salvage some footage and took plenty of pictures to capture the moment.

Sunday: Early Start and Exciting Races
Sunday began with an early start as we needed to be at the garage by 07:30 for the track briefing. The excitement in the air was tangible as drivers and teams made their final preparations.

Qualifying kicked off at 09:45, with all drivers performing exceptionally well. It was thrilling to see many drivers improve their lap times as they gained confidence and familiarity with the track. Although one who does know the track very well, exceeded track limits 6 times! With some free time until the first race, I was able to get some BTS footage. I also tried out my recent win – Thank You Laser Tools! Please excuse the hair – it’s always very blustery at the circuits and my hair turns to meh…
The wait until the first race at 14:20 felt long, but the anticipation was worth it. The race featured good, clean battles on the track, and there was even a chance of breaking the lap record.

The second race at 17:30, which was also the last race of the day, saw fewer spectators in the stands. Nevertheless, the driving remained clean, although one driver missed the yellow flags, overtook another car, and was disqualified. It was a reminder of how crucial it is to adhere to race regulations.

Looking Ahead
The next event is at Cadwell, but we’ll be on holiday then. However, the Alfa Romeo spirit will still be present. We’ll be back supporting and racing at Festival Italia on August 11th at Brands Hatch. If you’re interested in racing or spectating, we’d love to hear from you!
