The Renaissance Hotel Heathrow is strategically located on Bath Road, just a stone’s throw away from Heathrow Airport. This prime location makes it an ideal choice for travellers. They are looking for a convenient and comfortable place to stay before or after a flight. The hotel’s proximity to the airport terminals ensures that you can relax and unwind. You don’t have to worry about the stress of long commutes or traffic delays. For those attending conferences or events at the hotel, like myself, the ease of access is a bonus.

The Renaissance Hotel Heathrow goes above and beyond to cater to the needs of its guests. The fitness centre is well-equipped with modern exercise machines and free weights, providing a great space for a workout. There is also ample parking available. They offer park and fly packages which can be better value than airport parking.

Check-in Experience

I had requested a mobile key for my stay. However, upon arrival, I was directed to check in. The hotel needed to perform an ID check. Interestingly, no ID was asked of me during this process. Additionally, the staff member at the desk wrote a different room number than the one shown in my app. I promptly queried this. It was then corrected to reflect the room number on my app. I certainly did not want to walk into someone else’s room.

Despite this hiccup, the front desk staff were friendly and professional, greeting me with warm smiles and quick service. As a regular guest, I appreciated the personalised touch and recognition. The lobby area is spacious and inviting, setting the tone for a pleasant stay.

Room with a View

One of the standout features of my stay was the view from the room. As an aviation enthusiast, having a runway view was a dream come true. Watching planes take off and land from the comfort of my room was a delightful experience. The room itself was well-appointed with modern amenities, a comfortable bed, and a clean, stylish bathroom. The towels were super fluffy and cosy—another hotel that passed my towel test. One minor amenity that was missing – USB ports, thankfully I had packed a plug!

In the hotel description, it says that they do not have fridges in the room. There was a fridge in my room, in which I could pop my milk and snacks. The soundproofing was impressive, ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep despite the proximity to the airport. However, being a superfan, the noise was never an issue for me.

Conference Facilities

As a speaker at the SWIFT conference, I had the opportunity to experience the hotel’s conference facilities firsthand. The event spaces are well-equipped with state-of-the-art technology and provide a professional environment for meetings and conferences. However, when it was my turn to present, the IT system decided to take a break. After some ad-libbing and a quick computer reset, everything was back to normal. This incident has now earned me the reputation of being the speaker with IT gremlins and the random nun story.

To the gentleman in the lift—sorry to have dashed your hopes. On seeing “SWIFT” on my lanyard, he thought I was part of the Taylor Swift crew!

Dining Options

The Renaissance Hotel Heathrow offers a variety of dining options to suit different tastes and preferences. The on-site Market Garden Restaurant serves a delicious array of international cuisine, focusing on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. For a more casual dining experience, the Bar Eleven is perfect for enjoying a drink. You can also have a light meal while watching the latest sports events.

As part of the conference, we dined in Market Garden for lunch on both days. Tuesday had a British theme. Wednesday had an Indian theme. For dinner on Tuesday, we had a sit-down buffet meal in the conference room. The options and flavours were plentiful! I will admit, based on previous conferences and events I have attended. My expectations were low. The SWIFT conference planners and the hotel exceeded them!

Will I stay again?

Of course, I will! The Renaissance Hotel Heathrow continues to be one of my go-to choices for accommodation near Heathrow Airport. Its convenient location, excellent amenities, and top-notch customer service make it a standout option for travellers. Whether you’re staying for a conference, as I did for the SWIFT conference. Or simply for a layover. This hotel provides a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The bonus of runway views makes it a must-stay for aviation enthusiasts.
