A Paranormal Discovery at The Don CeSar: My Haunting Stay
Several years ago, I had the pleasure of staying at the Don CeSar Resort in St. Pete’s Beach. Known as the “Pink Palace,” this grand, historic hotel was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. Its stunning architecture and prime beachfront location added to the charm. However, what began as a peaceful escape soon took an unexpected turn.
One afternoon, I wandered into the resort’s charming gift shop. I was simply looking to pass the time. I wanted to browse through the typical souvenirs. As I scanned the shelves, a small, unassuming book caught my eye—“Haunted Hotels in America.” It wasn’t something I had been searching for, but my curiosity got the better of me.
I flipped through its pages. I was surprised to see that some of the hotels mentioned were quite close to where I was staying. To my amazement, the Don CeSar itself had an entry in the book! According to the legend, the hotel is haunted by none other than its original owner, Thomas Rowe. People say his ghost roams the hallways. It searches for his lost love, Lucinda. This story adds an eerie layer to the hotel’s history.
Apparently, guests had reported seeing a mysterious figure dressed in period clothing—a man who would vanish moments after being spotted. I couldn’t help but feel a shiver as I stood there reading about it. That night, as I walked through the hallways, I glanced around. I wondered if I’d stumble upon Rowe’s ghostly figure.
I never saw any apparitions during my stay. However, the ghostly legend added a thrilling twist to my time at the Don CeSar. It made me realise that even the most luxurious destinations can hold a hint of mystery.
