It should never be handed over without proper checks.Recent news reports have highlighted serious cases where unauthorised people were given access to hotel rooms. My own experience was far less severe, but it reinforced the same point: guest safety begins at reception.Room numbers should be shared discreetly. Guests should be given privacy at check-in.
